This privacy policy describes how the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) uses the personal data we collect from you when you access our services. The services this policy covers include the Contest Management System (CMS) and other ICPC websites.

Summary

  • We collect information required to record your participation in ICPC contests and validate your eligibility as a contest participant, process your transportation and lodging information for contests, and send you emails about us and our sponsors.

  • We give you certain choices regarding your data, including the ability to opt into email campaigns and choose how you would like to be identified.

  • We allow you to remove yourself from our system if you would no longer like ICPC to process your data.

What data do we collect?

The ICPC collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information, including but not limited to:
    • Name
    • Mailing address
    • Email address
    • Phone number
  • Records of contest registration, participation, and results
  • Records of site visitation/resource access, including your IP address.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide the ICPC with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Create an account
  • Update your profile
  • Register for a contest
  • Contact our support staff
  • Register for our newsletter
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.

The ICPC may also receive your data indirectly from the following sources:

  • When your team coach registers you for a contest
  • When your team coach provides transportation and lodging information for you

How will we use your data?

The ICPC collects your data so that we can:

  • Register you as a participant in a contest
  • Calculate your eligibility as a contestant
  • Maintain your contest participation history (ICPC ID)
  • Contact you with information about ICPC and other academic contest opportunities
  • Publicly display your participation and results in programming contests, with your permission (see below).
  • Make lodging requests on your behalf for ICPC events, such as the World Finals
  • Detect malicious activity and prevent users from misusing our Services. For example, we may prevent you from accessing our services if we notice that you attempt to make unauthorized requests to data.

How do we store your data?

The ICPC stores your data in a private cloud repository and on private servers, all in the United States of America. Unless you request that your data be deleted, the ICPC will keep your data indefinitely to allow us to maintain your historical record of participation (ex. your ICPC ID) for your continued reference. See below for how to delete your data.

Marketing

The ICPC would like to send you information about our services, as well as those of our sponsors. If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt-out at a later date.

If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please do the following:

  • Log in at https://icpc.global and click your name in the top-right hand corner of the screen.
  • Click “Profile”.
  • At the bottom of the page, select the following:
    • For “May we inform you by email about this contest and other academic contests that might interest you?”, select “Disagree”.
    • For “Are you interested in knowing more about employment opportunities with our sponsors? If so, you will be emailed details.”, select “Disagree”.
